Protect Yourself From Chlorine Toxicity

We LOVE our pool. It is a great way to beat the heat on these hot and humid summer days here in Oklahoma. I have even been able to move my exercise programs to the pool which has been a great transition.

With MTHFR in my family, chlorine is a huge issue and I have to make sure their bodies are able to detox or we can have a few rough days of emotions. I have found that we need to have routines and protocols in place with the level of chlorine exposure we see daily. This has upped my game in providing protection for myself and my family.

Our pool is a chlorine system. I do have plans to convert it to a salt-water system, but for now, we work with what we have. Please know that salt water systems still have chlorine in them, just lower levels, so you still need to protect yourself from chlorine toxicity.

First, you need to be on the look out for any of these symptoms, especially with extended pool use. If you are not sure if you or your children have MTHFR gene mutations, which affects detoxification pathways, these symptoms are good indicators that their pathway is either struggling or completely compromised. There are labs that provide quick results for you to know if you or your children have these genetic SNPs. There are several precautions you can make to help protect yourself from chlorine toxicity. Having the products on hand and being disciplined in your routine will allow you and your family to enjoy your vacation or summer being at the pool.

First, try and find an outdoor pool. Indoor pools put you at higher risk for respiratory issues. Your skin and lungs are two of your main elimination pathway organs. Help them out with at least being able to breathe while swimming.

Having foundations in place so your body can detox pathogens is the key to beating toxicity, again, especially for MTHFR defects. Having these habits in place before swimming will allow your body to combat the stress.

1. Shower BEFORE pool use. Hydrating your body before pool use helps to seal the barrier for your skin.

2. Use a Vitamin C Spray. Vitamin C spray forms a barrier of protection by neutralizing chlorine. Taking daily vitamin c and using a spray is a must. Have these in your swim bag every time you go.

3. Use a high quality coconut oil before swimming. Everyone knows water and oil do not mix. Using coconut oil before getting into the pool can act as a barrier and prevents chlorinated water from penetrating through your skin. Coconut oil also has a natural SPF of 4-5 and contains natural antioxidants.

4. Take a daily probiotic. Protecting your natural gut flora from the damaging effects of chlorine is very important. Probiotics will allow the gut to have continued colonization of good bacteria.

5. Take NaC daily. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NaC) is a non-essential, free form amino acid that is a highly stable form of cysteine. NaC has antioxidant properties and is necessary for the production of glutathione. Glutathione helps the body cope with oxidative stress which is associated with disease, and improves the number and activity of immune cells within the body. This allows your body’s detoxification pathway to remain open.

After swimming, put these protocols into action as soon as possible. Your skin is a thirsty organ that absorbs everything.

1. Shower again immediately after swimming.

2. Take an Epsom salt bath. Epsom salt bath (2 cups with bath). Epsom salt baths allow magnesium salts to enter the body and is effective for dry skin and for reducing inflammation.

3. Eat foods rich in Sulfur and Iodine. Sulfur helps in the production of an important antioxidant in your body called glutathione, which protects cells from damage. Iodine is necessary for iodine function. Chemically speaking, bromine and chlorine mimic iodine. High exposure to these elements leaves them to compete with each other leaving iodine the losing competitor and leaving your body iodine deficient.

4. Use a topical lotion with Magnesium and MSM. MSM is an organic sulfur that works synergistically with magnesium. It encourages detoxification and glutathione production, contributing to optimal health and immune support.

Are You Taking the Correct Probiotic?

Many healthcare practitioners believe that overall health begins in the digestive tract. Poor digestion compromises all parts of the body because the digestion of food provides fuel for all body processes, organs, and systems. The GI tract also plays a prominent role in immune health. The colonization of beneficial microorganisms has to be in place for the immune system to work properly. You would be shocked to know how many clients who have a compromised immune system are not on a probiotic.
Just like any living species, the environment for it to thrive in must be the focus. Individuals must be aware of what destroys the balance of the good and bad bacteria in their GI tract. If harmful organisms proliferate, the delicate balance is disturbed and it becomes very difficult for helpful bacteria to maintain their territory and to colonize the intestinal tract. Antibiotics from medications, certain foods and water tend to kill off both the beneficial and harmful bacteria, and thus disrupt the normal healthy balance of intestinal microorganisms.

Not all probiotics work the same. Individuals have different needs that require different strains of probiotics.

Probiotics vs. Prebiotics

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that are normally present in a healthy digestive tract. They are important for proper digestion, prevention of yeast overgrowth, and synthesizing vitamin K. Probiotic bacteria, or “good bacteria,” promote favorable balance of intestinal microflora. The human intestines harbor between 300 and 1000 different species of flora. Some people estimate that there are one hundred billion or one trillion bacteria per gram of colonic content in the large intestine. This amount is ten times as many cells as there are in the human body!

Probiotics are naturally occurring in various types of foods like buttermilk, cheese, kefir, miso, sauerkraut, tempeh, and yogurt. However, most individuals are not consuming enough of these foods to colonize the GI tract and are consuming foods that are destroying the few they do have. Bacteria are continually in competition for colonization space. Beneficial bacteria has to win this battle for homeostasis.

Prebiotics are the “food” probiotics live on. They’re carbs your body can’t digest. So they move to your lower digestive tract, where they help the healthy bacteria grow. Sources of prebiotics are apples, bananas, berries, garlic, green veggies, oats, tomatoes, onions, and wheat. Eating a diet full of these foods will help insure your probiotic is getting “fuel” for its job. This is also a warning to those who are on a continuous KETO diet. You need some carbs for fuel (prebiotics) to work for the probiotic.

Help! I’m Sick!

I wish we could all say that we eat the right food, drink enough water, exercise daily, get enough sunshine, practice deep breathing exercises, sleep like a baby and get regular chiropractic adjustments, but we don’t. We live in a busy world. Life happens and people still get sick.

I receive emails and calls every week from individuals seeking help with an illness of some sort. Unfortunately, most clients do not have anything on hand that can assist them. Timing is everything when individuals feel an immune response coming on. Let me explain…

Recognizing when an immune response is happening is key. Feeling off, the nose is stuffy, you’re overly tired, there’s a tickle in the throat or a headache are all indicators that the body needs some support. Unfortunately, individuals often mute these alarms and carry on with life like normal. Left neglected, the body will stop asking for the support it needs and start demanding for it instead.

The lesson here are: listen to your body and take action. The more proactive you are at the first signs of an immune response, the more likely you will quickly rebound. Let’s start with what you can control.

What to do?

1. STOP all refined sugar. Refined sugar shuts down your immune system for up to five hours after consumption. This contributes greatly to the uptick of cold and flu “season”. In my opinion, this isn’t a season. This always comes after a high-sugar holiday. We are sabotaging our health by consuming high amounts of sugar.

2. Drink only water. Cut out all juice and dairy products. Drink half your body weight in distilled (or good filtered) water every day. Your urinary system is a key elimination pathway. Making sure it is flushing properly is important.

3. Stop all processed food. I could park here for a while but for time’s sake, I will explain it this way….. JERF. Just. Eat. Real. FOOD. Remember, our bodies are fighting off infection. It doesn’t need to be fighting off synthetic food, too. Nourish it with nutrients it recognizes.

4. Rest. It sounds cliche, but it is true. Our body heals when we sleep. If we are run-down or not sleeping well, our body isn’t healing. REST!

What to take…

1. Vitamin C. I recommend a high-dose therapy when it comes to immune responses. This therapy is different for each client, but I usually will recommend a client take 1000mg of buffered C every hour until they hit bowel tolerance. This tells them that they cannot absorb anymore C. Vitamin C is water-soluble and high-dose therapies are extremely therapeutic.

My Vitamin C contains Bioflavonoids (also called flavonoids) which are a class of phytochemicals that are potent antioxidants, which scavenge many potentially damaging free radicals. Another aspect of the antioxidant properties of bioflavonoids is their synergy with Vitamin C. The bitter-tasting flavanones hesperidin and naringin, from the white albedo layer of citrus peels, have been shown to extend the nutritional functions of Vitamin C. Bioflavonoids are also capable of binding to metal ions, which prevents these metals from acting as catalysts in the body to enhance free radical production.

2. Vitamin D. I recommend an extra dose of Vitamin D. Most people are D deficient and need help supporting the immune system. Vitamin D testing is widely available to help you know where your D levels are. It is best to work with a practitioner when dosing fat-soluble minerals and vitamins.

Vitamin D is an immune system modulator that supports healthy T Cell and macrophage responses. One of the main functions of vitamin D is to help activate T cells, aka the “killer cells” in the body. T cells detect and destroy foreign pathogens — like viruses.

Herbal Bath:

-Draw a very HOT bath.
-Put bath herbs in a large tea ball, cloth tea bath, cotton handkerchief, some tulle or a clean white cotton sock. You can toss the herbs straight into the bath, but you will be cleaning yourself and the tub after…who wants to do that?
-Steep herbs in bath water until it cools enough for you to get in without discomfort.
-Soak in the herb bath for about 15 to 20 minutes, breathing deeply so as to benefit from the aromatics.
-Many bathers choose to “seal” the herbals in by applying a thin layer of good skin oil (jojoba, almond, avocado, coconut) to damp skin, then drying gently.
A few of my favorite bath herbs are lavender, calendula, chamomile, peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus, and Aloe Vera. I will use these for different reasons. Not all herbs carry the same actions.

Living Pain-Free

Pain is the number one reason why clients will seek out alternative or natural healthcare.  People are tired of living with constant pain while only getting pain-reducing options rather than dealing with the root cause of the pain itself.  Clients I see are tired of the ripple effect that OTCs and prescriptions are having on their bodies.  So, they start their journey to find what holistic health can do for them.

According to the National Health Interview Survey,  the CDC released a new report estimating that 50 million Americans, just over 20 percent of the adult population, have chronic pain. That mind-blowing number is the reason why chronic pain is the most common cause of long-term disability.

Whether you are experiencing acute or chronic pain, you need to ask yourself two questions regarding your therapy:

  • Are you helping to minimize the pain and discomfort by promoting recovery and regeneration?
  • Are you reducing swelling and improving the motility but not in a way that intervenes in the healing process?

If you are experiencing pain from an acute injury or trauma, arthritic and chronic pain, or chronic inflammation and disease, ask yourself those two questions.  By addressing health foundations and encouraging cellular regeneration you will better your chances of not being one of those statistics.

Natural health is definitely “trending” right now and it’s not always in a good way.  Most companies and their customers are marketing their products the same way that the pharmaceutical industry is:  “Take this and feel better”.  If you are not addressing the root cause, inflammatory markers, triggers, and the gut-brain connection issues, than it is hypocrisy at its finest.

This is why I do not sell my supplements, botanicals, and homeopathics on my website.  It is critical that the WHOLE person is observed and listened to.  I do not want to feed the epidemic of “the next miracle pill” which btw…there is NO such thing and if someone is telling you this, run for the hills.  The body, when put in the correct, supportive environment through proper cleansing, diet, and foundations, has the amazing ability to heal itself.  We, more than not, get in its way and inhibit any progress that it can make naturally.

The first few pieces of advice that I would give:

  • Be patient.  The pain, outside of an acute injury, did not appear overnight.  More than not, this is a reaction the body is having due to the years of abuse that it has endured.  You will not be fixing this in a day, a week, or even a month.  Give the body time to recovery and help facilitate the regeneration of tissues.
  • If you are not ALL IN in regards to your therapy, I personally would not take you on as a client.  Healing is a total-body connection.  Your entire body has to be involved to the point where healing and feeling good again is more important than anything that could hinder it.

A few tips can really make a huge difference….

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things…

If you would have asked me 25 years ago if my life would be anything like the way it is now I would have ‘laughed-out-loud’.  That’s the funny thing about life though; it evolves, molds, and paves ways most of us wouldn’t have chosen.  I can say that I LOVE my life and I couldn’t fathom a life any different than the one I am living.  However, this life was given to me by many circumstances that was completely out of my husband’s and my hands.

My husband has been a home builder for over 20 years.  We have moved and started from scratch six times over the past 13 years.  Starting from scratch isn’t for the faint of heart.  Packing, storing, keeping the houses ‘show ready’ and never being able to put down roots hasn’t always been easy.  We have lived in barns, fifth wheels, and campers while we would establish our property enough to live ‘properly’ in.  My husband would joke and say that we were the 21st century pioneers.  We have homeschooled for 10 of those years, making our ‘moves’ even more challenging, but we always managed to land on our feet.  With each home we learned so much.  Sure, I would dream that each home could be our last one but God grew the ability of detachment in me as it was all vanity.  Through the years, we have learned to simplify our needs and to focus on our healthy lifestyle.  The path that led me to study as a Holistic Practitioner was due to a few personal health issues and a very personal vaccine injury in my family.  This really made me focus in on how I am raising my family and how I can help to improve their health.  My main focus through the years has led me to live as natural and toxic-free as we can.

I am very happy to say that, Lord willing, we have found our final resting place and even though we are starting from scratch…..again, we are thrilled that we finally get to call a place “home”.   We have taken all the lessons over the past 20 years, downsized our dreams just a bit, and are fulfilling our current dreams that have been placed in our hearts.  My husband, the provider, has worked very hard to allow us to live debt free.  Me, the country hippie, animal lover, and garden dweller…well, I have the dream of running a year-round, organic-producing farm.

With that being said, I have put a list together of a few of my favorite things that I couldn’t live without. Whether you live on a farm or not, these products have made my top ten list and I know you will love them too.  These products have made our lives easier and healthier and I can’t wait to share them with you.

My Top Ten Must-Haves

 

#1  NurtiBullet

The first product that I would be lost without is my NurtiBullet.  This is a new product to me but it has changed my life.  While studying to be a Holistic Practitioner, one of the key health points we learn about is the importance of REAL, raw, organic, nutrient-dense  food.  Smoothies have been a great way for my family to eat raw foods (and the kids don’t always see what goes into those smoothies).  Smoothies are also a great way to detoxify and help your body to run smooth.

#2 6 Quart Icecream Maker

This is a summer treat that my family absolutely loves.  This product allows me to make a completely organic treat for my family.  I don’t have to worry about unwanted ingredients and harmful chemicals like Polysorbate 80. This is a toxic ingredient found in many ice creams.  It has been shown to negatively affect the immune system, cause infertility issues, and it is also an ingredient found in some vaccines.

By making my own ice cream I don’t feel guilty because I know exactly what is going into it.  Yes, it is an occasional indulgence , so don’t overindulge.

#3 Mortar and Pestle Set

If you are a culinary extraordinaire (or at least you pretend to be), a hobbyist herbalist, or even just beginning to learn about how important herbs are, you are going to want to invest in a good mortar and pestle set.  From muddling mint for mojitos to grinding dried  pepper flakes, this set will be your best friend.  Plus, it makes a killer guacamole.

#4  Cast Iron Set

Once you move to ‘the other side’ of toxic-free living, you will soon learn that you need to ditch the ever-so-popular, non-stick cookware.  Yes, cast iron cookware does need some attention and love but they are worth it.  If you think about how often you cook with contaminated cookware, it would be cheaper to buy a set of good cast iron and worth the maintenance to keep it nice than a heavy metal detox….and speaking of heavy metal detox…. if you’re needing one, let’s talk Cleansing Options. 

#5 Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System

I really shouldn’t have to talk about the importance of good, clean water, but, alas….here we are.  You should be consuming half your body weight in ounces of pure H2O every single day.  If you’re not, you are backing up one of your body’s main elimation pathways.  No…..coffee, tea (not even green tea), energy drinks, etc. do not count towards your daily ounces of pure H2O.  City water treatment plants are not as healthy as you think.  Depending on the level of chlorine, you might even think about putting a filter on your shower head to block out the chlorine.  Heating chlorine is NOT your friend. We are blessed to have our own well drilled, but as soon as our living arrangements are finalized, this filtration system will be in place.

 

#6 Coffee Press

We are now living three months with no electricity except with the occasional treat that the generator gives us.  I invested in a good coffee press right away.  I only drink a cup a day and I make it super charged.  Sitting outside, sipping on some coffee on warm summer mornings while overlooking our beautiful pond and thanking the Lord for another day is one of my favorite times of the day.

#7 Diffusers

Talk about diffuser withdrawal while being off-grid.  I run them when ever I can while we have the generator running.  But, when we have permanent electricity, I do have a diffuser in every room.  They have wonderful effects on our limbic system.  They help support not only or physical needs but also our emotional needs.  There are some tips and tricks to using EOs and diffusers.  One thing most people do not know is to NOT over diffuse.  We tend to think, the more the merrier.  This is not the case with essential oils.  You can become sensitized to them and actually develop an allergy to them.

#8 Etee Wraps

Ditch your plastic and keep your food fresher, longer.  Toxic plastic wrap, storage containers, and aluminum foil are no longer needed thanks to my washable Etee Wraps.  I use them to wrap up sandwiches, cover bowls, and store food safely in the frigde.

Whether you are maintaining a parasite-free coop and stable or ridding parasites naturally, DE is one of my favorite products to have on hand.  There are some health precautions to know about with handling DE.  Make sure it is food grade.  Do not inhale while dusting animals or the stable floors.

2) Colloidal Silver

Silver is always with me.  It is in my tack room ready for any occasion that I may come across,  I recently was able to help a new chick that had developed some congestion with silver along with helping a badly injured leg from one of my does.  When it comes to fighting off infection, this is my go-to product.

3) Apple Cider Vinager

Okay, really, what can’t ACV do?  All the farm animals get ACV in their water. It is especially helpful for chickens in egg production and helps feather growth when molting season arrives. #10 Dyson V7 Motörhead  

I never knew I could love a vacuum so much.  This is a workhorse that can go from carpet to floor to couch with no conversion necessary.  I love that it is cordless and can be converted to a handheld in seconds, which works great when I use it for the cars.  Even my kids enjoy vacuuming because it literally takes minimal effort!

Food and Mood

The mental health statistics for Americans is soaring. As we start to see more horrific incidents being played out as a result of mental illness we, as a moral society, have got to look at more underlying issues than a “gun problem” or video game overload.

The statistics do not lie.  I will bring nutrition and emotional release techniques into the discussion at the end, but for now I want us to camp out right here and soak up these statistics.  I could give you every statistic there is from depression medications to lack of education, but I just want to focus on these four:

  • 1 in 4 adults (approximately 61 million Americans) suffer with mental illness. (2015)
  • 1 in 10 adolescents experiences a period of major depression.
  • 1 in 25 Americans live with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression.
  • Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S.
    41,000 deaths per year-more than double the rate of homicides

As a CNHP, I am committed to teaching people the fundamental health techniques that can help free them from debilitating health disorders. Can you even imagine my grief to know so many people feel hopeless in their mental state enough to take their own life? And where is the outcry to help these people? We are ready to “BAN ALL GUNS” but we don’t address the mental state of these hurting people.  This is not only ignorant but cruel. Could nutrition and lifestyle really be affecting our mental state?

Now, as a disclaimer, I understand that not all emotional issues are nutritionally related. However, in studies we have seen huge improvements in the mental state of clients that have put natural health practices into play.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that health is a state of COMPLETE physical, mental, and social well-being.  This is different as our society as a whole, treats symptoms and defining health as merely the absence of disease or infirmity.  To take it even further, holistic health combines the body, mind, and spirit to work in harmony for the ideal picture of health.

Body- our physical being that allows our interaction in the world.

Mind- like computer programming, this is what makes us “run”.

Spirit- the energy within which gives us power.

To throw even more staggering statistics at you, the United States is ranked 37th in overall performance of healthcare systems, but comes in number one with cost.  In 2015, U.S. health care spending was $3.2 trillion, or $9,990 per person. Now, I’m not a numbers expert, but something doesn’t add up here.  For the first times since 1993, the U.S. life expectancy has declined.  We are outspending every nation for health care, but our life expectancy is declining and we are even leading some countries in the 10 causes of death globally.  You would come to expect this in third-world countries but not in our “Mighty America”.  This should outrage our society and move you all to find answers.

So What Can We Do?

Simple, natural changes that you make in your life could result in the breakthrough you’ve been searching for.  As a holistic practitioner,  I start with the foundations at initial consultations.  We engage in these foundations of health and then see where we need to improve.  A full consultation form lets me see into the window of my client’s health and allows me to help support their personal needs.

This should not overwhelm you but encourage you that simple, natural changes could improve the health of your body and the health of your wallet.

What Does Nutrition Have To Do With It?

Scroll through any magazine or Facebook and you will quickly notice the heavy market for “health companies”.  For the most part, these companies have programs that get results and allow people to start living a healthier lifestyle.  Where the problem lies for me is that these programs promote nutrition that is not even food.  They are pumping people full of synthetic minerals and vitamins and artificial forms of food.

Dr. Royal Lee and Jerome Stolzoff have some profound opinions on food and nutrition:

1) No food is safe, unless it is fresh enough to have retained most of its perishable vitamins.  Spinach may lose all of its vitamin C in a week; oranges in three months.

2) No food is safe, unless it has incurred no processing that would remove or impair its vitamin and mineral content.  This eliminates pasteurized milk, white sugar, synthetic syrups, bleached flour, and practically all packaged cereals, shortening, fats, etc.

3) No food is safe, unless it is free of any kind of synthetic adulteration, representing crude attempts to replace valuable organic constituents lost in processing.

4) No food is safe, unless it has a background of experience behind it establishing its value to the human family.  NO ANIMAL TESTING.

Foods should be consumed in their natural state, grown organically, in proper soil conditions, pesticide-free, and harvested at peak ripeness for optimal nutrition.

Dr. Lee and Jerome Stolzoff go on to say that those who are seeking absolute health, longevity, and refinement need to understand that the body, mind, spirit, and soul are absolutely interdependent from each other.  A healthy body can only be built and maintained with nature’s perfect (unperverted and unfired) food, pure water, fresh air, sunshine, exercise, and restful sleep.

Can You See The Connection?

Not only is our country’s nutrition completely off base but we are over medicated as well.  Millions of children and adults have attention deficit disorder (ADD) and/or attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).  ADD is characterized by difficult concentration, distracted, and impaired visual/spacial coordination.  ADHD is characterized by inattentiveness, impulsiveness, and hyperactivity.  Although the causes are not clear, genetics, food additives, nutrition, infections, and abnormalities related to neurotransmitters in the CNS are suspected.

What….nutrition? We are facing a drug epidemic as the number of prescriptions for ADD and ADHD have tripled from 1990-1994 and have increased every year after.

A nutrition-based study showed results involving 33 people who suffered from ADD, ADHD, or related disorders.  The purpose of the trial was to measure how often nutrition-based recommendations could help improve behavior that was linked to these disorders and to also identify dietary factors that could help.  This was solely a nutritional-based study.  The results were amazing.  51.5% of participants needed calcium support, 48.4% needed nutritional fatigue support, 45.2% needed nutritional thyroid support, 29% needed nutritional infection support, 9.7% needed nutritional pancreatic support and 16.1% needed B vitamin and iron support. Only 20% of participants were on Ritalin or other prescriptions.  All reduced or eliminated taking the medications and reported improvement.  100% of participants reported behavioral improvement within 40 days.  Food intolerances were found in 90.3% of the participants.

I gave you a very brief synopsis of this case study, but the results have to be acknowledged.  Our diet and nutrition is playing a huge role in our mental and physical health.

How balanced is your diet?

How much water and what kind of water do you consume daily?

How much raw, organic foods do you consume?

Are your circadian rhythms functioning properly?

Are you exercising properly for your body’s needs?

What is your body’s pH and how does it effect your nutrition?

Are you cleansing and detoxing properly?

Are you receiving an adequate amount of sun exposure?

Are you overloading your body on supplements? Do you know what supplements your body is specifically needing?

Are you effectively practicing energy therapy?

These are just a few of the foundational blocks we build upon.  More and more people are climbing over to the natural-health arena because they are dissatisfied with the efforts made by tradition allopathic medicine.  I do not discredit allopathic medicine at all.  In fact, I am thankful for their avenues of expertise and I help co-manage many clients.  I just can’t ignore my passion and insight to help people find a better way to improve their health.

The Problem I Have With Essential Oils

Let me first say that I LOVE essential oils.  I will use them every day until the day I die.  They have become a huge blessing to me, my family, and my farm.  What I am specifically talking about is this “health trend” we have in America.  We know we are supposed to be healthy but very few put in the work to get and STAY healthy.  Now with the uprising trend of essential oils, this seems to be our new “fix”.  We want things fast and if we don’t see immediate results, we give up.  So many people are claiming EOs are the end all to solve everyone’s problems…..and that is the very problem I have with them.

I am an advocate for healthy living.  I truly believe our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made.   The intricacies of our bodily design are mesmerizing and leave me in absolute awe every time I learn something more about them.  I also believe that our bodies are capable of healing themselves given the right environment.  However, there are no shortcuts to health.  No supplement or oil is going to make you get off the couch and get your body moving.  No oil or supplement is going to give your body the pure nutrition it needs.  They are buffers…..wonderful buffers!  You can slather your body in all the oils you want and take all the supplements you desire but if you are not concentrating on the triangle of wellness, you are missing the whole point of why we even have these amazing products.

I understand the marketing behind such claims, but I feel as stewards of the health industry we do it a disservice by glorifying the products and by not promoting the only effort that will make a lasting impact on people’s health…..the true triangle of wellness.  Nutrition from pure, organic foods, exercise (those that hate that word, think of it as fun sweating activity), and then supplements (in natural form, not synthetic…including oils).  Detoxifying the body through the bowels, urniary and lymphatic system, lungs, and skin is often not even mentioned in health consultations.  Nutritional deficiencies are largely associated with food intolerances and an unbalanced gut.  The pH of your body will determine how many nutrients your body can or cannot absorb.  Should I even begin talking about water intake?  People are going mad, slathering EOs all over their neck and head for headaches and are still drinking soda with little to no pure H2O.

I do applaude those that are trying to make a difference.  Educating people on daily chemicals that we are being exposed to, teaching people proper exercise, and helping people build healthy eating habits. HOWEVER, my inbox is FULL of people needing help because someone that watched an “oil” class or pinned a “pin” off Pinterest advised them and are now claiming themselves to be experts on Essential Oils.  Not only that, there are so many brands of EOs on the market that can do harm….especially when they are taken therapeutically.  That is very scary to me.  Suggesting that an oil or supplement can fix anything without a full health evaluation can discredit the people offering the advise and  give the product a bad name.  If people are not being consulted on their entire bodily wellness, then they are receiving a huge disservice.

So for now, I just try and continue to educate people on the “whole” body.  Essential Oils are just a small part of resources I have to help people.  Personally, the bioavailability alone that EOs bring to nutrients is intriguing. But for people claiming they are a cure-all…I would caution and advise you to save your money.  Understanding that our bodies run off energy and that there are many areas that need to be addressed is the first step in healing our bodies.

Before everyone loses their minds over this, there is nothing wrong with people diffusing oils and having their go-to bag of oils for themselves and their families. In fact, I encourage it.  I just have very strong opinions and concerns on the therapeutic nature of some oils that people are claiming to be health experts on and the advise given to them.

It is my life’s passion to help people break free from the normal we have come to accept in healthcare.  There are no shortcuts to healing our bodies nor is there a magic oil that will make all your symptoms go away.  In the natural health field, I take a look at your body as a whole and through consultations and evaluations, I begin piecing together the clues your body is trying to give.

The Fall Body Clean Up

It’s Cleansing Time!

Cleansing…..it can be a scary word for some people. We have accumulated an ever-mounting buildup of toxins, chemicals, pesticides, additives, and heavy metals that most of us unknowingly absorb from our food, cosmetics, air, water, and even from the mercury fillings in our mouth. Where do we even start?

The questions I generally get are, “What does cleansing entail? Or, will I have to give up what I do daily to cleanse properly? How often should I cleanse? Can I eat on a cleanse?” There are so many different programs and products out there that I can see why people can be so easily confused. This is why I am going to take you on a 6-week journey that will not only clean out your over used and abused body, but educate you about it as well.

All participants of the Fall Body Clean Up will learn about our body’s five elimination functions known as B.U.L.L.S….bowels, urinary, lymph, lungs, and skin. You will learn how to properly allow your body to cleanse along with feeding it the complete nutrition it so desperately needs.

Healing begins from the inside out. Cleansing gives the body the strength to fight off disease and break down the accumulation of toxins, mucous, and parasites that have built up over the years…..and yes, I did say parasites! Everyone has them in one form or another. For the most part, they go unnoticed until symptoms such as feeling achy and fatigued start.

We will concentrate on a program that requires a high consumption of water (that means distilled or purified), strong digestive enzymes, minerals, high-potency herbs, and therapeutic-grade essential oils. Why essential oils? Essential oils have a lipid-soluble makeup which give them the ability to break through cell membranes, break up undigested food, and digest toxins. They help with the bioavailability with minerals that our bodies are so desperately starved of and have been documented for their antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties.
